Orange You Glad To See Me?

Over the Easter weekend, we had family staying with us and we ate like kings.  Roast beef on one occasion, roast pork on another and more chocolate than one should consume over the course of a weekend.  There was some very serious talk and consideration about the making of a flourless orange cake.  The ingredients were purchased, the oranges were on the boil, and then we decided that we had probably already over indulged and it might be wise to postpone the baking of such a cake. For months now, the almond meal and poppy seeds  have been staring at me every time I open the pantry.  So, with plans to take afternoon tea when visiting a friend on Friday afternoon, I finally found an opportunity to bake the cake.  I used this recipe for the cake and this recipe for the candied oranges.  The cake was beautifully light and springy and the candied oranges finished it perfectly.  A few months later than planned, but definitely worth the wait.

  1. Thank you for stopping by.

I absolutely love the photographs of your recipe and definitely will be stopping by again to check out your kitchen adventures.

  2. Made this last night when friends came round and made it again today for Sunday lunch tomorrow. So easy, light and orangey. Can’t believe it doesn’t have butter in it. Will be one of my standard recipes from now on – thanks for sharing 🙂
