Mid-Week Menu: Moroccan Spiced Lamb Shanks

As winter nears and the temperature drops, I find myself craving those big-belly meals that comfort from the inside out.  That is what winter eating is all about.  I dragged out my crock pot {circa 1970} to make a winter favourite of mine, lamb shanks.  Usually, I use a recipe that calls for red wine and onions and rosemary and garlic but this time, to change things up a little, I used this Moroccan inspired recipe.  The result was a distinctly different dish – the dates and cinnamon infusing a sweet and spicy flavour throughout.  Served with cous cous and harissa spiced natural yoghurt, this is the perfect one-pot, mid-week dinner.
