Usually on Anzac day, I like to get up while it’s still dark and join the hundreds of pilgrims at the solemn dawn service held in Anzac Square. I feel like it is a very small act in comparison to all those men and women who have fought or lost their lives in battle. This year, we will be attending the dawn service at Villers-Bretonneux in Normandy. I imagine that being in the heart of the Somme, where so many soldiers were buried, will be a humbling experience.
Baking Anzac biscuits for Anzac day is one of the great Australian traditions. If you are looking to make a batch of Anzac biscuits today, this recipe is a great one.
Lest we forget.
