La Dolce Vita

It has been two weeks since we left Australia, so I thought it would be a good time for a little holiday update. After a harrowing flight, we landed in London suitably exhausted and looking forward to a few quiet days to adjust and ready ourselves for the next leg of our journey. When we return, I’ll go into more detail about each place we stayed and post more photos, but for now, a few highlights from our Italian leg:

Walking, walking, walking the streets and piazzas of Rome and being overwhelmed by the history and beauty of the city
The most delicious dinner of pizza, bruschetta and a jug of house wine on our first night
An evening walk to the Trevi Fountain to make a wish

A late afternoon picnic in a rose garden, across the Arno, and looking down over Florence
Finding a local wine & panini bar which was abuzz with people lining up and sitting in the street at all hours of the day and night {and having THE BEST sandwich imaginable}
Revisiting the Uffizi gallery and again being completely taken by Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’

{Monterosso, Cinque Terra}
Staying in a beautiful family run hotel with a window and terrace that looked out over the Mediterranean
Catching the train to Vernazza for a lunch of pizza and gelati while we sat in the sun
An incredible dinner of local seafood at a Manarola restaurant
