Citrus Love

Around a month and a half ago I noticed the leaves on our lime tree were starting to turn dull and yellow – the whole tree just looked a little sad.  There is a lot of conflicting advice on the internet as to how many times a year you should fertilise your fruit trees.  So after talking to a friend who suggested a good way to remember is once a season – I thought I had better hurry and fertlise for Summer before Autumn comes along.  I dug a shallow trench around the tree and mixed through some dynamic lifter and organic poultry manure.  Six weeks later the difference is amazing.  The leaves have returned to a deep, glossy green, and there are new shoots of growth all over.

  1. The orange tree that we inherited when we bought our house has been in really bad shape since we moved in. I recently created a stone ring around it on the ground and filled it with mulch to help keep moisture in and weeds down, but I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of fertilizer! Thanks for the tip and for sharing your garden!
