Since writing about my love of figs a few weeks ago (here and here), friends from far and wide have been showing up at our house with figs in hand as a sort of offering. The best sort of offering in my opinion. So, over the weekend I retrieved our gelati machine from the depths of our pantry and made some deliciously silky and sweet fig gelato. I decided not to add cream (as you typically would with gelato) to ensure the full flavour of the figs was uncomplicated by any creaminess. The result: a refreshing and luxurious figgy delight.
